An Urban Shift - a transition within Naroda, Ahmedabad

 “Shift Towards Gentle Urban” from Habitat’s Neighborhood to Inhabitants’ Livelihood. Transition from Krishnanagar & Parshwarnath Township in south to Nava Naroda in north part of the precinct, in its growth in terms of lifeline, livability & urban disparities. From deprived lives to better standard of living. The theme of my folio is “Urban Shift of Habitat as well as the Inhabitants, a transition from agriculture land to residential development, from Low Rise living to High rise living, in terms of socio- economic disparity i.e. Income and Affordability, in terms of Infrastructure and Quality of Life. Chapter 1 deals with evolution of the precinct Nava Naroda in context to Ahmedabad and transition in urban pattern from its old grain to new development. Chapter 2 deals with morphology in transition seen in nature of Urban land and its built form from south to north part of the precinct. Chapter 3 talks about transition seen in socio economic behavioral patterns, livelihood from south to north pf the precinct. Chapter 4 talks about change in quality of life of people from south to north part, a transition in mobility and infrastructure. Chapter 5 is concluding how transition affected lives of inhabitants.

Storyline...!!!Nava Naroda, Ahmedabad

Evolution & Existence As Ahmedabad evolved and Industrial estates flourished, labour pooling led workers to settle in southern part of precinct and after years though industries were neglected precinct started developing and transition in growth pattern was observed from south towards north and determinants led to urban shift and old area with dense fabric to sparse development in north in terms of pattern.

Rise in Quality of life and standard of living.

Gender Inequality in travel behaviour of jobs and income consumption.

Public Realm as street as Public spaces lacks.

Infrastructure as a life line.

Conclusion at micro level.
