URBAN GROWTH

The form of cities "Understanding the City", is the logical extension into theory of knowledge, from what should we think about? to how should we think about it?, or critically how should we think about thinking? the overall guiding principle of this portfolio has been structured so it can be read in 3 ways- independently to the others, in series or in parallel. so this not only complete the trilogy, it also derives its structure and focus from the preceding exercise. The Form of Cities, some regions were saturated with ideas de- rived from this source, e.g. history, culture, conservation etc., while others, such as aesthetics, were either singularly more difficult to comprehend, or had a much greater resistance to the chosen theoretical framework.
