SOLAR INFRASTRUCTURE - CASE OF TP SCHEME

With increasing energy demand of the cities, leading to enhanced Greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), Renewable energy is being seen as a transformative sustainable solution both globally and nationally. Sunlight being the abundant energy resource available throughout the most Indian cities is being given the prime focus. In an attempt to scale up the efforts taken under the solar city programme, an efficient way can be making both “active and passive solar energy measures” a part of the planning mechanism so that energy sector which has always been seen in silos can be integrated strategically aimed at increasing solar energy use. For that, the potential planning instrument can be taking “TP Scheme” as the prototype ‘Solar planning blocks’ of a city which can guarantee at least the effective enforcement of passive solar planning in a TP area.
