The extension to the Bombay city museum, Dr.Bhau Daji Lad taps into the very essence of the city, being in a state of constant flux. This ever changing nature of the city, is in particularly evident in the Byculla neighborhood that once used to be known for cotton textile mills and now to be identified with high residential and office towers. The museum extension strives to create a new dynamic identity for itself as a cultural hub in the city. Thus the proposal sees the importance to serve the multiple settings of the neighborhood and city, in a day as well as over the year.
