The aim of this studio is to achieve thermal comfort within a building, in the given climatic context. The main idea is to use passive architectural features and materials thereby reducing dependency on active energy intensive technology. The programme is of a TERI Building (The Energy Research Institute). The main functions includes exhibition space, training centres, laboratories and residences. The project is in Leh, India, which has a cold and dry climate. The site is on the southern slope of the Himalayas, with a road on a higher altitude of the slope, and river Indus in the lower altitude.
