POL AS A LEARNING SYSTEM - HARKISHANDAS SHETH NI POL

Transmission of knowledge systems. This theme becomes particularly important in the light of long time residing families moving out of the pol due to a lack of educational facilities and with a very low population of youth capable of carrying these knowledge systems forward, the sense of place is in threat of being lost. Several families with young children in the pol are expressing their desires and decision to shift to the new city for want of good, accessible education systems or at the least, opportunities for developing extracurricular skills. The idea for the regeneration of the pol is through suggesting methods that ensure the continuity of these systems. This includes the maintaining of remaining traditional structures in a good, usable condition; enhancing existing cultural practices and providing opportunities for the residents to ensure their continued stay.
