The selected area was studied as a case, to understand the issues in all other similar areas where the ruins of the wall are used as a backdrop for the temporary informal markets. The unorganized activities in the surrounding area add to the character of the space. An attempt was made to understand why the markets developed in this particular area and the impact of this on the Gate and the remaining portion of the wall. In order to understand the area, the movement patterns were studied and the different issues were noted on site. The issues were categorized as, i. Issues affecting the condition of the Gate/Wall directly, ii. Issues affecting the wall indirectly, iii. Mobility, accessibility issues in the surrounding area.
