Ahmedabad as city is also called as the Manchester of India because of similarity with the famous cotton textile centre of Manchester, Great Britain. According to many reports from various consultancies, the study showed up that there are diverse areas in the city which are growing in terms of the residential development. More than 40% of the new launches happened in east and north Ahmedabad, which are largely affordable markets in the city. The western part of the city is largely the hub of housing activity and it witnessed 22% of the launches. This is what the reason behind the respective studio. The studio focussed on the opportunities for the landowners to fetch and make the maximum benefits out the land.Ahmedabad has faced redevelopment in many sec- tors from a very long time. The redevelopment happened in the form of Slum rehabilitation, Slum Networking Programme, BSUP, Closed mill land development, Public housing and development on the Private lands. Regarding informal settlements, Ahmedabad has a history of unique partnership-based approaches to slum redevelopment that has involved proactively extending basic services in slums, offering them de facto land tenure by providing services and levying property taxes
