Unraveling Stories

Manek chowk an important square in Ahmedabad is the central market space of the walled city. A place filled with street vendors and parking in the day changes and a bustling food market at night. Due to the presence of the entrances to the Raja no Hajiro and Rani No Hajiro it is one of the most visited and significant places in the walled city. Over the years these heritage building have blended into the background of manek chowk and are no more visible. The approach to the sites are congested because of series of shops on the way. The focus is to bring back the importance these places hold in the square and make the square itself a destination rather than an in-between space.
