Revitalizing Bopal through Transit-Oriented LAP

Cities being generators of jobs and opportunities are inviting more and more number of people into urban realm. As population grows, cities expand outwards leaving behind non-optimum utilization of land. Thus there is high need of developing micro level plans that will help in solving brownfield development. The studio initially focused on assessing the existing scenario of Bopal. Furthermore macro plan i.e existing proposed AUDA DP 2021and micro plan i.e Bopal TP scheme 1,2 and 3 were studied. Though Bopal has both macro and micro level proposals but the area still faces problems related to land, transport, mobility and social aspects. Thus a new pilot micro level plan for brownfield site was required to rejuvenate the area according to the people’s aspirations and requirements. Therefore a Local Area Plan for Bopal is proposed, focusing on the issues, requirements and proposed TOD in Bopal. In order to make plan feasible, minimum land deduction are done and a supporting Incentivized Redevelopment model is proposed that will be a win-win situation for both developers and authority.
