Shahpur Town Planning Scheme

The Urban Expansion and Regeneration Studio (UERP Studio, semester 3) took its course from the Development Plan Studio, (of semester 2) wherein the student was administered to be sensitized as a planner from a large scale city perspective to the specifics of a local area plan or town planning scheme (as practiced in the state of Gujarat). The studio sought to introduce to the students both the panorama of local area plans (brown field development) as well as town planning schemes (green field development) that take place in order to achieve not only the visioned development of the city but also in order to accommodate the demands of the locale specific areas- therefore enable them to administer the idea as well as design of the two in singularity as well as relativity. The exercises thus constructed were built in order to study the area (both large scale- city specific, as well small scale- area specific) in order to design a conclusion that would be in cohesion of the two. Students were divided into common groups (7-8 students) that studied the area thereafter the design specifications and development was constructed in smaller groups (3-4 students).  This portfolio studies and thereafter designs for a town planning scheme for the village of Shahpur that situates itself adjunct to the limits of GIFT City, near Gandhinagar (within the estimated GIFT Expansion Zone).
