Urban_ Figuring the Voids-Stitching fragmented Cities

Highway lids as a tool in stitching segregated neighbourhoods into the urban fabric.
The heavy reliance on cars as a means of transport for mobility is increasing by the day. Globally the urban context is scarred with incisions of the highway. Highways have become objects that fragment the city and isolate neighbourhoods. However, major roads have the potential to become a tool to reconnect communities. The project will examine whether the road is simply a part of the infrastructure of the city or if roads can become an urban street that links an infrastructure system to the urban fabric.
