MAKING LIVING PLACES

Guided by the ideas proposed by Christopher Alexander in his book the nature of order, the studio brief was to 'make living places', always listening to  the mirror of the self in anything you do. The first part of the studio involved smaller exercises that had verbal and visual descriptions of places and identifying and explaining 'wholeness'.The second part involved the major design exercise that involved group work. The work in this portfolio involves conversion of an old panchayat into a people's center , a flour mill into a community kitchen and the making of a paniyara and a pavilion.
