ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION - TANKSHAL NI POL MASJID

The aim of the study was to record the Tankshal Ni Pol Masjid site in its present condition, collect existing archival data about its history in order to ascertain the different values associated with the structure and arrive at its significance. Obligations arising from this significance and its condition helped in formulating a design proposal suited to ensure its survival. The Masjid at Tankshal Ni Pol is a symbol of cross-cultural interactions and community involvement in architectural patronage. It is a place of memory & religious significance. It is a testimony to a traditional construction style, a community’s belief and an answer to the test of time. The significance of the Masjid lies not in the belief that it is of a rare construction style, but in the fact that very few Islamic buildings of this style survive today.
