Architectural Conservation-Vitthal Mandir,Dolatkhana.

The aim of working on this site was to understand the cultural significance the structure holds, to understand its Historical background and importance, to learn about the vernacular system of construction and find out the embedded values. The detailed study of this structure included: 1. Understanding the site and its surroundings, 2. Documenting the building with all the construction details, 3. Mapping the activities, 4. Value Assessment, 5. A detailed study of the condition of all the structural elements, which helped to form a base for the conservation approach. The documentation process involved a comprehensive study of the spaces, materials and construction details. The mapping of various activities happening around the temple helped to understand the relation between the temple and the residences which belong to the Bhatt family. The value assessment exercise focused on finding all the elements of significance which would help for the preparation of the Conservation proposal. The condition assessment study was carried out to understand the condition of the structure and come up with a consolidation proposal for the same. The site has a strong relationship with its surrounding, also people have different associations with the building, which became the base for further study.
