The civic center is usually the first point of contact people have with the government services. In the context of Ahmadabad civic center means a government building which provides a platform where people can get Birth and death certificate, OBC and reservation certificates, marriage registrations, people can pay their tax, electricity and telephonic bills. People usually don't like to talk with the government employee at the civic center. Waiting at a civic center outside the officer's cabin in dark long corridor make people frustrated. Usually, people consider this as busy work. At the same time, the civic center building has an opportunity to become a part of the public place as it is already providing a platform to multiple activities which are related to our daily life. If civic center encourages public activities then it has the potential to become a good public place. It can include space for seating, games, and public art interventions. A public place is shared with people whom we don't know so people should feel free to express themselves. The aim is to create a public space by understanding the context.
