Craft + Future = Pattern

Imagine, there was a world full of monotony. Full of blank surfaces. Full of autonomous vehicles and homes. Any direction possible. No limits.

Sounds great? Think of it. There is an essential need for decoding one’s environment to be able to enjoy and navigate through life. The more flatness, the less attachment to the environment and the materiality of it. Without direction and endless options people feel lost and get depressed.

Pattern can help decode one’s environment and re-engage with his/her environment in offering surfaces which provide information on the material and function of it.

For that it needs an ever-expanding pattern repository which is open to all and can be visited in need of inspiration. Designer’s and client’s can experience and discuss the different effects of pattern in a space and choose either from a palette or create and develop entirely new patterns which enhance the space.
