Parking Management Strategies for Vadodara - 2040

The increasing population of Vadodara has drastically increased the number of vehicles in the city and as a result the analysis has shown that abundant and free on street parking which covers 59 % of the arterial, sub arterial network is a major problem in the city. The off street parking charges are nominal and therefore they are over utilized. To propose solutions two strategies namely restricting parking and pricing mechanism were adopted at three different levels of city, area and policy intervention for the future areas. O.P road was taken as an example for city level proposal and a model of strategically locating parking lots and sharing by different land uses will be an effective strategy , which can be replicated to the other major commercial areas. Mandvi was taken a case for area level interventions.
