Planning the Chemical Capital of the Country

To prepare a Development Plan for what is gradually being recognized as the ‘Chemical Capital’ of the country, requires a far more surgical method as compared to the conventional predict and provide regime, given that several center and state level development proposals are well within and in immediate proximity to the merged urban administrative jurisdiction of Bharuch and Ankleshwar cities. In this regard, it was through the lens of a bottom-up process which was not only able to justify the rationale behind various planning principles and objectives but also provide an essential framework for overcoming key deficiencies through stakeholder assessments. Indeed the vision of a statutory DP for a ‘New BAUDA Region’ 2021-2031, is one which finds stability on a tripod of rationalizing anticipated development, ensuring natural environment welfare and solidifying market and citizen involvement in a predominantly industrial region.
