SUDA Development Plan 2041

The Development Plan Studio, 2nd Sem was initiated from the understanding of foundation studio. This was further taken forward to propose the long term and short term plans for the precinct planning exercise. The second part of the exercise was the comparative analysis of development plans for 1 Indian city and 1 international city. In this exercise, various new frameworks and policies were studied in detail. Later, Initial concept of planning for a city was started based on the approach of zoning and on the spectrum ranging from complete control to complete freedom to develop. Various models for land pooling, Tp schemes, land acquisition was also studied. Basic cost estimates along with identifying revenue sources for implementation of projects were considered. Overall, one learned to identify various tools and strategies to implement the development plan. Liberty to opt for the non-conventional method of planning and zoning was helpful in learning many new ideas, with all the key sections that included, proposals, DCR’s, zoning, cost estimate, phasing, etc. The development plan for Surat 2041 was proposed, which was beyond the conventional approach to zoning and regulations. A very robust plan was made to understand the uncertainties of future growth and development trends.
