Envisaging the reminiscence - A reservoir of memory

Belgaum, a city  close to the western ghats has been vibrant in its evolution, with its origin back to the 12th century when a fort came into existence here, A settlement flourished that transformed into a town and later the British set their cantonment making it a halt point. Presently it’s the state’s second capital and the education hub catering to specific user groups i.e. elderly citizens and youngsters. As a part of outdoor recreation Belgaum has parks but the nature of the city is such that most of the residences have their own gardens. Thus people here engage with nature to some degree right at their door step resulting in a not so strong park going culture. The elderly citizen access parks for routine activities, while the youngsters are more or less deprived of an outdoor recreation. Hence the project aims to provide an outdoor recreation allowing one to engage with nature in a different manner. In case of the senior citizens something contrary to private gardens and in case of the young crowd something similar to site seeing and adventure activities that they could indulge in. On these lines the project envisions to bring a memory of the old town which has rapidly faded as the city aspires to develop and grow, while engaging one in its reminiscence. By doing so, it broadly connects communities, neighborhoods and different age groups enhancing their multifaceted associations.
