These forests are understood as a part of a larger system of valleys that plays a major role in sustaining its ecosystem. The project recognizes the forest as a part of the Periyar river and its riparian and wetland forests. These lowland forests act as the lifelines of the forests nurturing many species within its seasonal shifts between a marsh to a river, which is now a modified system regulated mainly by the dam and its operations. The journey takes one through the many systems of this valley and reveals the wetland forests as a place to pause and see its diversity and resilience.
