Indian Museum for Arts and Culture, Ahmedabad

India is a land of varied cultures. Placing the Chinese museum at Ahmedabad, the functions were changed according to the Indian context. The idea was to identify the key features of the given project to distinguish the negotiable and non-negotiable factors without losing the essence of the project. Hence features such as the courtyards, corridor and the grid which were the key factors were retained. Other factors considered were the monumentality of the built form, combination of modernism and regionalism, importance of light which were crucial to the project.
