The studio aimed at identifying, designing, and developing building products for outdoor spaces and its functioning to arrive at the need-based functional products which facilitate the user and their need. The students were asked to identify the need and design opportunity to develop a new product or redesign the existing product to improve its function, design, and expectations of the user.
Students were introduced to use product design considerations to apply them while designing and explore the potential of design with the idea of system thinking. Through design and detail development students were able to translate their ideas into a tangible prototype and lead the product to the manufacturing stage. The aspects of the product, product graphics, and user expectations with market feedback were considered to validate the product.
The studio was formed in four groups. Each group focused on one specific product from the given product segment.
Group – A Design Lighting Product
Group – B Design Product related to Parking / Parking Space
Group – C Design Canopy
Group – D Design product that replaces the building/construction component.
