Eternal Knot

The hotel is in Gangtok, Sikkim near the pedestrian market place. The contextual reference for designing the hotel is the grand monasteries in the state. The auspicious symbol of an eternal knot guides the concept. It is adapted to the building by connecting the two roads that it straddles. The hotel is an extension of the street which goes through the building. Entering one level and coming out another like a journey defined by the interior spaces. Starting with the reception (upper) and ending with the walk-in cafe (lower), along with an interesting play of atriums.
