Sacred Tree Hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim

The concept of the hotel design revolves around the ideology of a relationship formed between a human and a tree. A tree being a filtering unit of impure CO2 providing clear, clean, and healthy oxygen to humanity is a very kind approach to the life cycle chain. A tree being a universal donor silently gives shelter, food, and energy to the human without taking anything in return. Similarly, the hotel will be based on common grounds connecting the basis of thematic values in a spiritual realm. The context of the Sikkimese or Buddhist monastic architecture will narrate the hotel to adapt itself into the immediate underlying context delving itself into the roots of cultural significance. The roots of the hotel will act like an art museum where a person will get to experience all the Buddhist artworks, paintings artifacts, and antiques representing the heritage. Further, the spaces will behave spiritually connecting back of the house services in the middle like the branches and the rooms at the top like the leaves, spreading themselves like the foliage of a tree. For in-depth viewing of the project, please click on the link- Contextualising Interior Space Making- 'Sacred Tree Hotel, Gangtok' by Manav Budhani - issuu
