The semester started off with understanding basic objects around us, structures existing in nature, studying its material and proportion, manufacturing process and structural details. The main focus of the semester was to study an architect's work, translate an existing building's principle into furniture, with emphasis laid on the movement of forces, geometry & proportion, joinery details and material exploration.
I was given the opportunity to study the works of The Architect Felix Candela. The design of the stool is derived from structural principles and techniques used by The Architect in his buildings.
