Vahal : a pol house

Vahal (Gujarati word meaning "love") house, owned by a Jain family, is set amongst the dense fabric of old city pol houses of Ahmedabad. The house is inhabited by five family members. Keeping the context in mind, the activities of the house circle around the courtyard (traditional space making element). The house acts as a retreat (houses big plantation areas) as it is a contrast to the minimal vegetation/greenery in the pol.
