Bridging Continuum: Hall of Exhibition for States

“Ornament is an abstract rhythm of structure and it belongs to the interior world of constructive elements” by Frank Lloyd Wright, has been taken to develop elements as kit-of-parts. Techniques of ornamentation have been explored to iterate forms using different elements to generate spatial systems for ornamentation. For the
Final Project, an attempt to learn the relationship between assembly to bring out the unique interior character of space through spatial qualities, a kit of parts, geometry, and interior detailing was made. This approach is achieved using the concept of Packing and Deduction of Polyhedral elements.  The design process initiated with the idea of bridging the “gaps” between the traditional and contemporary face of India at Hall of Nations, Delhi. Hall of Nations is designed by architect Raj Rawel in 1972 and was demolished in April 2017 Through an augmented view of its comprising states. Textile - not only embracing the culture in its surroundings but how it has adapted with now that India is moving more towards industrialization and digitization. Design for bridging is influenced by the idea of connecting different directions through the map of India, and thus levels have been created for the same. The overall structural geometry is influenced by the geometry and forms offered by the site. Space, thus, is an attempt to understand the relationship between contemporary ornamentation and its application in the interior character of space through spatial qualities. FOR FULL STUDIO WORK
