Connecting Public Spaces

The project is framed by two points of interest: lack of green open spaces and the growing density of built form. These points provide an opportunity for a surgical intervention in the industrial port area of Elphinstone Estate. Considering the open spaces used in the industrial area, the project aims at re-using such spaces in order to open it for public usage. In the dense city as Mumbai where a person has barely 2 sq. m of open space, there is an emergent need of green spaces. The aim is then to identify such spaces, creating a corridor of green areas that connects the city to the waterfront as means to revive the dense industrial area of Elphinstone Estate.
