City on the Fringe! A Study of Keshwapur, Hubli

The study focuses on understanding the development and evolution of the city around a 1 sq. km area in Keshwapur, which lies in the northeast end of Hubli. The objective of the study is to understand and analyze the precinct considering various parameters. Every chapter of this study explains, in detail, the key determinants that led to the metamorphosis of the precinct and the city as a whole. The portfolio discusses the background and history of the precinct in connection with the city. Further explains the evolution of the city dating back to 1004. Considerable development was seen in the precinct from 2003 due to commercial growth and availability of land. The street network of the precinct is adequate to commute, a functional hierarchy of roads is analyzed. The arterial road plays a significant role in inaccessibility in the precinct and the building development along the National highway and major roads that have influenced the built form in the precinct.
