Mathura is a developing tier-II city, which has witnessed rapid urban growth during the past four decades, both in terms of population and infrastructure development. The inevitable spatial expansion brought about with the hike in population in the past decades is accommodating itself towards the periphery regions of the city, developing an outward spatial growth trend at the city level and hence, giving birth to areas like Mathura Bangar which are evolving as affordable residential housing neighborhood in the city fringes.
