The Development Plan Portfolio manifest my understanding, analysis and future planning & proposal by exploring various approaches & tools in zoning, regulation and development strategies. The process of preparation of the development plan involves learning of development acts, policies and statutory requirements and it develops the ability to produce non-conventional planning strategies to make the city more livable. The robust and adaptable plan includes proposals integrating various sectors and also identifying emerging projects, estimated costs, revenue sources and monetary mechanism to ensure maximum implementation of the development plan.  

The Development Plan Studio was structured in three parts. Introductory section being the continuation of the exercise from previous semester “Understanding the City - Ahmedabad”, to understand the scale and context. The second section introduced us to the project city Rajkot. A detailed study was carried out to understand the existing situation and analysis in the group of sixteen students. The entire study was conducted in a span of three months by means of data collection from primary & secondary sources, site visits, meetings with key stakeholders and Physical surveys. 

The Last section focused on proposing the ‘Plan’ for 2041 on the basis of existing situation analysis. The proposals were prepared in a group of 4 Students.  Being Civil Engineer, My primary focus and Interest adhered with Infrastructure and Transportation Planning, so my contribution is The Infrastructure development, Public Transportation, Freight Network and Costs and Revenue Mechanism in to Development Plan of city of Rajkot.
