The Urban Expansion and Regeneration Planning Studio focuses on studying the Local Area Plan and Town Planning Schemes throughout the 3rd semester of Masters in Urban Planning course at CEPT University. The learning processes involved understanding what is LAP and how it works and comprised of minor exercises related to the studio. A city known for its lush greenery to rapidly urbanizing IT sector was chosen to comprehend the Local Area Plan and implementation of it for one of the areas in Bengaluru. This Portfolio highlights the work on Yeshwanthpur - Sandal Soap Factory Area - LAP for which the Area development Model of San Fransisco Downtown area was studied as a case study to understand the LAP mechanisms and implementation at global level. The studio work further highlights the study done on Bengaluru local context and existing conditions of the chosen site through multiple Site visits, Stake holder meetings and Internet studies. The outputs produced are GIS Maps, site analysis done by on site observations from which the proposals emerged for planning level and plot level interventions suggested through Local Area Planning.
