Childrens' Library at Loving Community

When one walks from the entrance gate of the site down the street of the community, the site offers various encounters of different kinds of atmospheres and experiential qualities. From the court in the entrance which has a very cozy feeling because of the scale of the houses and abundance of trees, the main court with its relatively bigger scale where all the major hustle bustle of the community is, to the quiet, secluded corner at the corner of the site. Taking influence from Fun Palace by Cedric Price and my intervention in the illustration the idea is to have decentralised interventions of smaller scale to be able to take advantage of these different experiences that the site lends us and be able to work with that. Each of these smaller, decentralised interventions have the potential to completely imbed these experiences in themselves. In this way, it becomes possible for the project to create various spaces for various moods of reading, and interventions of such small scale have the potential to become a place of regular use by the individual adaptations of the residents of loving Community to a space which does not formally dictate a way of inhabiting it.
