New Hotspot

The industrial area of Wetzikon, bounded between the Banhof of Kempton and the river ‘Aabach‘ is enclosed with the railway lines, river and the reserve swamp on three sides. The area is physically disconnected to the rest of the city due to lack of public buildings and less frequent public transport. The analysis makes it clear that the bus routes are only functional for the people who are working there in a certain area. The public buildings are only on the periphery and it takes longer time to reach due to strong borders and limited access points. Therefore ist the idea to connect the industrial area of wetzikon with new networks the other parts of wetzikon. To make the area more active and attractive, a new centre is being developed that is connects to the new networks. The program is based on a multiplicity of different activities which are working together and completing each other by the used at different time, which aims to create a public centre and induce a dynamic movement of people. The edge bounded by the reserved swamp is largely occupied by the industrial buildings, which tends to face inside and compliments the boundary making it even stronger. This brings a disconnection between the central green area and the huge reserve. In this way, the city will be taken back as a whole and the borders will overcome. The edge bounded by the reserved swamp is largely occupied by the industrial buildings, which tends to face inside and compliments the boundary making it even stronger. Therefore we want to use the potential of this recreational area and connect it with the new centre to give the place more potential. The new centre should have an impact on the whole area and help it to develop further and should be the city point for this change.
