COMMUNITY CENTRED HOUSING FOR FISHERFOLK

The vision is of a humane and lively neighborhood. Due to the specific user group chosen, the project molds itself to the nature and cultural richness of the site. The neighborhood of the fisher folk consists of a cluster of closely placed houses with dense population. The community is very interdependent for their profession. Related activities like cleaning the fish, and repairing the nets are carried out by women as they sit in shaded common spaces. Protection from rain and adequate ventilation would be appropriate for the hot and humid climate of the region. Shaded verandas or balconys for every house help in protection from rain and allow for personalisation and future extensions.
