NIRVAHA : SUPPORT AND SUSTENANCE AT CALICO MILLS

Economic support and infill housing inspired by the concept of 'open building' suggested by N. J. Habraken in his book 'Supports : An alternative to mass housing'. The projects aims to weave into the existing fabric of the city of Ahmedabad and the historical site of Calico mills by inculcating existing local practices in designing a humane habitat with the aid of industrial technology yet retaining the individuality of each house by liberating the residents to create individual heterogeneous impressions into a homogeneous support system.
