HOUSE FOR A MUSICIAN

A family of three, a father 35 years old, mother 30 years old and their daughter 1-year-old, migrated to Fatehpur Sikri. The mother used to go for farming in the morning while the father used to take care of the child and during the evening he used to practice music. This required a house with a riyaz space. This led to the idea of separating the public spaces which responded towards the ridge and the fort wall whereas the private spaces responded to the pavilion and the tree. The thick wall acts as a threshold between the spaces and modulates itself to create spaces on either side. At the same time, the corners open up to respond to the site. The court becomes the extension to the ridge space and also a gathering space for the family.
