Envisioning permanence through narratives of temporal

To anchor a community’s tempral nature of occupation and lifestyle through an intervention that links them to both the notional and materialistic idea of permanence. The project, located at the threshold of three anchoring units of life in Nalsarovar, the lake, river and the settlement, provides an alternative cycle of livelihood dependencies to the lake dependent primitive tribe of the region, the Padhars. This is not only a cycle of survival but a circle of environmental protection, ownership strategies and sustainable means. The fish ponds, reed farms, boating, tourism and community gathering areas will be available around this project right at the fluctuating edge of the lake-river confluence and serve as a transition joint connecting resource inflow and nourishment from both the systems. Within this newly defined notion of permanence weaved into systems of temporality, community comes together contributing to a stable ground for existence.

Stage_1: Mapping 56 transects from the distinct visual landscape character Identified based on the google grain and the 3 lacustrine zones where the larger water systems meet.

Unfolding the visual character assement following a methodology ended up into a conclusion catalogue giving an opportunity to choose particular character with its associated elements and components. The exercise then ends with finding the permanent elements in the frame responding to the associated temporalities.

Stage_2 is about unfolding the idea of permanence and temporalities associated with the cultural landscapes which revolves arpund the idea of Occupation.

Mapping the permanent attitudes of a native community whose lifestyle majorly depends on the temporalities of water as they are water dependent community for their survival. Hence the project aim then becomes to provide an idea of permanence based on their attitudes and narratives of temporality.

Conceptualization.

Existing sections and the conceptual sections based on the programmatic elements and the seasonal variations.

Research regrading how the major survival activity of the Padhars -'Fishing', takes place with certain technical concerns along with the seasons.

Crafting of a Master Plan

Conclusion... Nalsarovar is a complex landscape of land - water systems, where both the cycles of life and processes of landscape follow a rhythmic and constant pattern of temporal events. When there is a disruption in this cycle , there is loss of links, interdependencies and associated ways of life and livelihood. These disruptions are due to climatic changes, political reforms and changing aspirations of people in modern times. This study started with the exploration of distinct visual la
