PORTABLE TRAVELLING PAVILION

From the system explorations, system 4 was further detailed out and lastly, possibilities of various programs were visualized. Here the idea was to create a lightweight and portable pavilion steel structure using Spindel shaped porous lightweight post at the center and a tensegrity module assembled above it. Here the hexagonal frame is brought to equilibrium by the use of tension rods above connected with post and tensile fabric below acting as a shading element. Also, a post-tensioned Spindel shaped post is made using three MS rods and triangular plates which being a lightweight post is capable of holding the above structure. Here to stabilise over structure, many such modules can be placed in a hexagonal grid in any pattern responding to site and function. Sharing of the hexagonal frame members and I-section below with adjacent modules make the overall system much more stable. An increase in a number of such modules in the hexagonal grid stabilizes the whole structure because of inertia and sharing members. This Portable Pavilion can be placed in an urban square, plaza, or even parks in a flexible way according to the site context and functiion. It can cater to functions such as outdoor exhibition, urban flea markets, specific expo and such other function which can travel anywhere.
