Getting understandings of different materials through studying 3 case-studies. For material translation, the Dou-Gong bracket system is selected. This traditional timber joinery needs much handwork and professional craftworkers. This joinery is translated into steel to reduce efforts. Welding, Bolting, and riveting are avoided. After designing joinery that enough strength to make a structural system, this small joinery took shape into various system explorations and at the end of the process, a tennis court took place as a design program. The whole court is designed with timber members that has steel joineries. Here, the timber truss system is challenged in spanning with square framing and for steel, challenge to hold two timber members strongly is done by taking only its bending property.
