Ever-going & ever-changing, inspired by the surroundings

As one walks down the streets of Manek Chowk, it is almost impossible to ignore the varied culture and occupation all around. The area is highly concentrated in commercial activities. The character of the place was busy and evergoing. With this program, the site and the surroundings will have a place to pause while retaining its busy character. The program intends the site to be a place that is inspired by the surroundings and in a way to the existing site activities, the site remains open as a public market for seasonal fruit and vegetable vending along with the permanent food retailing and eateries. So the major activities in this program are ‘Seasonal Market‘ that has seasonal eatables such as Mango during Summers, corns during monsoon, Undhiyo vegetables like green beans & shakariya during Winters, ‘ Permanent retail market ’ that has Gruh Udyog snacks like fafda, khakra, muthiya, sev, pickles etc. which are sold around the year and Eateries which are very much a part of Gujarati lifestyle. Ahmedabad is considered as a paradise for food lovers because of delicious food varieties served in various parts of the city. The site’s proximity to the famous heritage monument ‘Jama Masjid’ gives visitors a chance to explore various Gujarati dishes and a food street experience. This program is well-suited for the site as it is surrounded by many pol houses in which Gruh Udyog is practiced on a daily basis and hence the program will not only give people a chance to try locally made food but will also provide a platform for the people of pol to expand Gruh Udyog.View Full Portfolio Here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_vOfiOXkw_FWA0NoAro88fV8U36bunRH
