Design Process and Exploration While studying and exploring doors which was my element, I came upon how transitions from a closed space to a semi- open space to an open space can majorly add to the experience of a visitor to that space.

Not just the physical transition of spaces but there is also a transition of moods in the two levels of the house.

The swing has been placed right under the bridge giving you a sense of having something overhead. The gathering area with a level difference that separates the living room from the courtyard, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior. The staircase allows multiple and flexible uses of both common spaces above.

As you come up, you see a library and a working space which leads to a railing end giving a connect and a view to the chowk. As you are on the bridge topped by a steel framed roof structure, going towards the bar, you closely feel the fabric canopy slightly overhead.

The platforms have been created in a way that one can sit on them and the floating steps are attached to olive green metal pipes running from the step to the top forming a railing. The staircase allows multiple and flexible uses of both common spaces above and private spaces below. You reach out to the bar and relax with a drink on these comfortable sit outs looking both down into the water body and towards the city view.

The public area allows you to enjoy a musical night with a variety of seating and drink at the bar. The working table looks down into the courtyard.

Contrasting the rough, earthy tones of the existing stone, pale green has been used to accent the steelwork. The fabric canopy plays an important role in the light and shadow filtering down into the public area and the courtyard. Creating a perfect place for travellers to spend their time.
