Humanising Urban Space: Vijaynagar, Ahmedabad

The project aims at creating various pockets of spaces that are strategically placed across the central space of Vijaynagar society in the city of Ahmedabad, keeping in mind the theories of Jan Gehl and Christian Norberg Schulz. In today’s time when residential buildings are mere products of corporate money-making, wherein there are negligible spaces for social interaction, this project attempts to provide myriad experiences while creating these spaces for various user groups from the very young to the elderly to vendors and hawkers. Altogether, the project is a reflection of a study of a network of activities currently present in Vijaynagar and proposing other types of activities and anticipating their networks and the built form that supports it.
