Ambli is an urban village near Bopal, at the western fringes of Ahmedabad. It has narrow streets connecting all the chawks of the village which are generally filled with kids playing or running on the streets. Their daily routine is mundane and repetitive without any involvement in extracurricular activities. Also, I found a lack of awareness among parents and kids regarding opportunities for kids’ future. I also observed that division between communities separates the kids and prevents them from mingling with each other. Based on these issues and potentials, my vision is to provide neutral play space for kids of all communities to come together, and a dedicated kids development center which also provides awareness for their future. I selected four sites: one site inside the village to become a playground for 5 to 10 years kids, another site for sports for 10 to 18 years, an empty plot for a proposed development center, and finally the blank building walls facing the street to become more playful and safe for kids. All these interventions will help kids to develop better physically as well as mentally and become more independent. Also, the dead spots of the village will turn into playful and vivid spaces.
