The portfolio encompasses the learning and exertion towards preparing and proposing a Development Plan for the city of Surat for the Horizon year 2041. The primary objective of the DP studio was to develop core competencies necessary to formulate a development plan. The process for making the DP was iterative and hence the output was multi-layered. The studio also aimed at exploring unorthodox planning approachess which are hardly applied in the Indian context, and gauging their practicality. The culmination of the whole analysis was proposing a Development Plan for SUDA (Surat Urban Development Authority). The portfolio begins with the initial exercises which introduces the idea of formulating a plan through precinct planning proposals. This is followed by the contextual analysis of Surat, and our DP proposals for 2041.
