Achieving Permanence through Temporary Strategies

With increasing urban population, the need for public spaces is increasing. There are many vacant plots in the city which remain underutilized. The project considers a vacant plot that is under legal contestation, with an increased degree of surveillance. The design strategy uses a series of subtle and unobjectionable design interventions, whose temporary occurrence facilitates the introduction of more elements on the site, which slyly leads to a re-occupation of the site. Through this accumulation of events, the aim is to convert the vacant plot into public space.
