FOLDED PLATE STRUCTURE/ ART GALLERY

The studio focuses on exploring joinery details specifically of three materials( Bamboo, Timber, and Steel) and how they come together to form a structure. The final design is been evolved from the observations of the case studies. The concept of the folded plate structure is explored. The structure is developed from double cross-laminated timber sheet assembly. The structure consists of 10 arches that are fully designed in wooden panels and assembled without metal joinery. The joining technique used is inspired by one of the oldest methods used for wooden construction, tenon-mortise.
