Architect's Homestead

The Architect's Homestead is an integration of an architect's residence and workspace at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Climate responsive strategies used makes the building energy efficient. The major climatic concerns at Jodhpur are strong solar radiation and hot wind. Hence, strategies such as thick walls, use of thermal mass for construction and layering of AAC blocks on the terrace increase the thermal lag. The cooling tower on the central courtyard with sprinkler reduces the temperature of the air entering by evaporative cooling and creates a cool air pocket. Building simulation carried out by cove tool software produced favorable results.
